Monday

Early shower, 10am Dentist checkup (another filling needs redoing), then took a nosey at our faulty central heating boiler. Things looked messier than usual in the cabinet and the fan wasn't working. The manual stressed that the gas side of things needed fettling should the fan be replaced and so that was your DIYing Gal out of the picture. Mum gave me a number for an engineer they had used & rang him, had some dinner whilst sat gazing out into the back garden, and then snoozed for at least an hour...which was nice.

Mr Gas Engineer arrived in the late afternoon, agreed the fan was broken before diagnosing the several other failed parts (two leaky gaskets and a wonky probe) that also explained the mess. It's probably a good thing for us inhabitants that the boiler lives in a well ventilated garage rather than in side the house!

Anyway, there is now hot water, warm radiators in time for the chillier weather this week and it'll be fully repaired in a day or so when the gaskets arrive. I had it installed around 15.years ago and during that time have repaired two or three water leaks & replaced the expansion tank. Am not sure whether that is par for the course with these things :-/
