They're B-a-a-a-ck
Looking back to June 2024, it’s easy to recall Roadie, Roadina and their brood, Racer, Rocket, and Roadway. We had been wondering whatever happened to all of them, having not seen Roadie since late August last year (an unbelievably hot Summer) when he appeared frantic with heat prostration and dry feathers.
Then, this past Thursday, Roadie came back to visit. We knew it was Roadie because he hopped right up onto our dresser and gave one of his throat calls, asking for some fresh mealy worms.
Since then, Roadina came to visit on Saturday morning (she’s larger than Roadie and has a certain obsequious bow). Then Sunday…no visit by either of them.
Today, Roadina came first, mid-morning…clucking and throat whirring for some food. She was fed fresh worms and she went on her way. A bit later, Roadie came, hopped onto the dresser (main photo) and considered what it meant to be part of the National Wildlife Federation natural habitat.
~ Later still, one of their offspring came, sporting a beautiful, vivid blue crown.
Looking back, looking forward…..the future seems filled with hope and possibility!
Thank you Lesley for hosting Mono Monday.
