Renovations - Day 20

Last bit of demolition done in the garden, with the Shed removed (see pile of red bricks in corner of photo). Trench dug to remove the old sewer pipe, and pipework subsequently removed. Little more demolition on part of the old kitchen, and portaloo delivered (for the workmen). Some fresh topsoil, for landscaping purposes, more rubble at the front of the house, and the very unexpected uncovering of a substantial cesspit in the middle of the old lawn...

Decided lack of any Roman archaeology though! (There is a Roman Villa just a few hundred yards away, so it wouldn't be too much to ask).

Maybe it was a Roman cesspit - after all, when asking "What did the Romans' ever do for us?" There is always the sanitation... not to mention the Aqueduct.
