Middle England
Petersfield. Went to the farm for eggs and popped in there afterwards for coffee and to stretch my legs. Strange little place. As you can see there are some nice houses but it also has a bit of a shabby feel to it. Very popular with older people who can get nice houses near the shops, pubs and cafes, all within zimmer frame distance.
The market was on today and they had the ubiquitous bread and pie stalls, household stuff, and a guy selling "pre-loved" jigsaws. In the cafe I went to a woman proudly showed me the bone China cups and saucers she had found in a charity shop. And I overheard a woman walking with an incontinence problem who told her hubby not to worry, she could "use the loos in Wetherspoons". Something genteel but not monied about the place.
Having been out for three hours I needed lunch and a snooze before cleaning the kitchen, doing a couple of hours baby sitting and cooking dinner. Did find time to read quite a bit of Warlight by Michael (English Patient) Ondaatje. Very good so far.
How an earth did I ever have time for work?
