96 Years Young

With K, and Ivy and Ronnie, collected Dad and took him round the corner for a birthday pub lunch which he thoroughly enjoyed, after which Dad and I went back to his room which the staff had decorated with balloons and birthday banners, and where he opened his birthday cards and enjoyed looking through the photobook I’d made for him. To both our surprise, a dozen or so members of staff then came into the room singing happy birthday and bearing a delicious cake! I ended up staying far longer than intended and caught the 5pm bus home. But most importantly, even though he wasn’t at home, Dad thoroughly enjoyed his birthday. Another chilly day, despite the sunny intervals. It was even snowing this morning, not that far from us.
