Floor curling

Today we took the floor curling sets to the Parasport Festival in Ravenscraig which is organised by Scottish Disability Sport. The festival lets young people try out different sports. Curling is very inclusive catering for all ages and abilities. The oldest member of my club is 95 and juniors start from around the age of 8, or as soon as they have the strength to shift 20kg stones. Hamilton is also home to South Lanarkshire Wheelchair Curling Club.

Today we had wheelchair and power chair users as well as a group of visually impaired youngsters. It was exhausting but very enjoyable and hopefully we might have introduced a future Olympian to the sport.
