Abstract

The rains came, as predicted. We ventured out to the Farmers’ Market at exactly the heaviest part of the storm, gusty and wet. Vendors were hanging on to their tents; some were already packing up. Our timing wasn’t deliberate, it was just that by the time we had lunch and got our coats and put on shoes and gathered the shopping bags and all that prep, any semblance of a gentle rain was gone. I figured it was my best shot for a photo, and so I aimed at everything I could see through the wipers and the droplets as we drove downtown. AvCamPro takes multiple images in one frame. I recognize part of this set as the underside of our carport, but I’m not sure about the other things in the frame. I’ve not mastered the timer in AvCamPro and sometimes it has a mind of its own. I like playing with the juxtapositions, and then manipulate things further in Hipstamatic. It’s like drawing. The problem is that the image ends up being awfully small—good enough on the screen, but I don’t think I could ever print this.

I’m going to make another pitch for using the zoom mode over there on the right; the black background sets off images really well, and the whole frame is visible at once. I don’t know about you, but on my iPad I often have to scroll to see the entire picture, which isn’t very nice.
