The boy needed to visit a National Landmark site for his Citizenship in the Nation merit badge for scouts, so we drove up to Fort Monroe today. This statue depicting the first self-freeing slaves to arrive at Fort Monroe is in the visitor center. We also toured the Casemate Museum, where traitor, Jefferson Davis, was held after his capture.
