Ancient and modern-our world today

Dumyat mountain forms the  backdrop to Stirling University and if you look carefully at the top there is a spur where the ancient Maeatae tribe lived about  500BC-700BC  years ago.
Their defiance of the Roman Empire resulted in the only recorded case of genocide in Scotland.
 
On a more prosaic note, I was at the hairdressers this afternoon and someone mentioned Trump, and immediately the staff said we don’t talk about politics and news in here. It’s so bad.
So, what did they talk about? Films on Netflix. Am I alone in noticing this trend where people prefer talking about the virtual fictional  world portrayed on screen to the alarming reality of the world we are in today?
