Finding Beauty in Age
Tulips are one of the flowers that have a certain beauty and delicacy at the end of their bloom. The pale-yellow ones I recently got slowly faded into translucent, paper-thin petals. The petals looked like delicate silk. I thought they looked lovely in monochrome. Human skin takes on a similar look in the very elderly. I remember my grandmother's skin looking like this at the end of her very long life. In a culture that puts such a high premium of youth, an appreciation of age is greatly lacking.
