Card Players
We gave Momma the entire day. My sister and BIL made homemade vegetable crab soup, hubby made a loaf of bread and I put together “Watergate salad” for dessert. We picked her up at 9:00. There is a baby shower for my great nephew on Sunday. I stopped on the way to Momma’s house and bought a gift. My sister and BIL will deliver it - we will be at Brooklyn’s game. I grabbed some snack cakes for intermission. My sister and I tidied Momma’s house before the guests got there. The card party players arrived around noon. We could not find Momma’s coffee pot; one of the players brought a pot and coffee. They had lunch and started playing “pitch.” They had so much fun that the games continued until after 4:30. Our cousin and Momma’s Godson and his wife stopped by to visit. Momma misses everyone terribly; tears were shed. My sister and I played hostesses, keeping coffee cups filled and snacks available. We cleaned the kitchen as well. She and her hubby took our mother home at 5:00. I am hoping hubby says we can grab fish sandwich carryouts. I need to gather our stuff for Parker’s lacrosse tournament tomorrow. He is still a bit under the weather but wants to play this weekend. His MRI looked ok; no stress fracture. He will get physical therapy for his other issue. I’d say our day was a complete success and now we look forward to the same kind of weekend for Parker and Brooklyn. Wishing you a fine weekend. Stay safe. Thanks for visiting. “We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.” - Randy Pausch
