Brusk FC

The winners of this season's Oxford Football League: Brusk FC.

From what I can tell, Brusk Group is a manufacturer of roadbuilding machinery and asphalt along with an oil and gas business, based in Iraqi Kurdistan. I don't know what brought them to Oxford, but I wish them well.

It reminds me of my Sunday evening football in London, when I played with a bunch of Old Etonians from Holland Park - and a group of Somalis from Westbourne Grove. The divide in backgrounds was huge, but for an hour a week we were as one, brought together by the only sport that crosses all borders - another reason to love the beautiful game.
