The Way I See Things

By JDO

Springy

It was a four seasons in one day kind of day. Mostly cloudy, said all four of my weather apps, with periods of sunshine, and occasional showers. Which was about right, though they might also have usefully mentioned that the showers would include sleet and hail.

It was also windy, which isn't the ideal time for trying to photograph blossom on thin whippy stems, unless you can fix a branch to a solid support, or get your glamorous assistant to hold one steady for you. As I had neither clamps not a glamorous assistant to hand, I tried using the R5's eye tracking on the bloom immediately to the right of the leaf shoot, and to my surprise it caught the centre of the flower and followed it. I'm still not wholly convinced about the image, but I am quite convinced about the camera.

Here's one I prepared earlier - last year, I confidently believed, but conforming to the current rule that everything is invariably twice as long ago as you think it was, it turns out that I took it in March 2023.
