Turning Japanese
You might have heard of the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold (called Kintsugi). It highlights the beauty as well as acknowledging the break and the life of the pottery.
Fewer people will know that they also do obvious, artistic repairs on clothes called Sashiko. This uses obvious patches and decorative stitching to enhance and strengthen the fabric … though historically this was done by the poor (because they couldn’t afford to replace their clothes and no gold is involved).
This is my 1st attempt of Sashiko stitches and a patch to repair a top I’d ripped.
