Gallus gallus

...and what a splendid comb and wattles!  He has a habit of making rather a lot of noise in the early hours of the morning, crowing loudly with a shrill call. There are worse ways to be woken up!  Most of our neighbours in the village have a small flock of chickens and fresh eggs are readily available and always delicious.
