Mixing the colours for lunch
I'm trying to fill in the March gaps with backblips - I blame the dogs!
I was very organised for Sunday lunch before heading to church. These were ready to go under the chicken in the over once I was home (the chicken was already in on a timer) and be joined by a gooseberry crumble soon after.
That meant I could snatch another afternoon on the allotment, but on my own this time. It was good to see the new bench in place by the pond. This was a gift from Ian's family, so he could be remembered in his happy place., I managed to weed another block between the elephant garlic and old lavender - still trying to decide if it will have broad beans or onions or maybe some peas.
The saffron bulbs have grown well even though they didn't flower, but there appears to be a crop of lamb's lettuce growing around the edge. I know I grew some there last summer when the saffron had died down, but I don't remember putting anymore down in the autumn - maybe self-seeded!!
