A new project...............
We're in Edinburgh for the next month and you know how my human loves her projects.......... so she's devised a new one for the both of us. Yay! …........If we've got nothing better to do, we're just going to go out and walk and walk and walk, for at least a couple of hours, see where we end up and then jump on a bus and come home.
This evening Ann was supposed to be cooking a roast chicken for four friends, but two of them cancelled, so it seemed a bit silly to have a dinner party with only one person. Yes, she could have invited another couple of friends, but you know what it's like when you're not sure if different groups of friends are going to gel with each other she couldn't be bothered, so she'll just stick everything in the freezer and have it at a later date.
Off we went for my afternoon walk at about 1.30pm knowing that we could stay out until it started to get dark. Don't you just love the lighter nights?
I loved my walk this afternoon. We walked almost 8 miles. We walked through Braidburn Valley Park and then along the secret path and through the fields to the Mortonhall Garden Centre, so I had loads of run about time. From there we walked through some really dismal/run down areas of Gracemount, that we've never been in before, and which were littered with loads of rubbish all over the place, followed by a walk through some posh new housing in Liberton that we didn't even know existed.
That's the interesting thing about housing in Edinburgh.................... one minute you can be walking through what could almost be called a 'slum area', and less than 5 mins later you can be walking through an area with huge detached houses with a couple of big 4x4 Range Rovers on the driveway.
….............And then I got more off lead run about time when we entered the 'Moredon Woods & the Burdiehouse Burn Valley Park' near Ellens Glen. That was a bit scary cos we were walking for about 20 mins in woods and didn't see one single other person. Obviously I didn't find it scary because I was just running around having a really nice time.
Unfortunately, Ann spends a lot of time on social media and all the Edinburgh posts seem to be full of people who have been mugged, robbed, raped, attacked, etc, etc. It's making her a bit weary of going anywhere by herself. As a 'pensioner' she's starting to think that she can't cope alone in a city, even if she has me to protect her?!!! Actually I probably wouldn't protect her cos I just want to make friends with everyone!!!
Anyway, we had a lovely walk and when we got to Hyvots Bank, we jumped on a no. 11 bus and came home. …..........And now that Ann doesn't have to spend the evening cooking, we're both just going to spend the evening snoozing and catching up on TV.
