In the walnut tree

My favourite walnut tree is just right for small people to sit in, so we usually get a photo with grandchildren! Imogen had a lovely time this morning looking for the garden fairies, and collecting them into a bag. It’s the first time she has done this, but I think she will be looking for them every visit now :-)
I had a go at preparing a new flower bed, where the huge Kiftsgate rose was. Surprisingly there are no stones, and very few weeds as it was deep shadow. There were some rose roots to haul out, and unfortunately one corner has some nasty bindweed roots. I am hoping the boards that will edge the bed will keep it out…
I want to plant my two new roses in here, a small climbing rose and a shrub. I know they don’t recommend planting roses where they have been before, but I am going to try, and see how they get on!
