I Witness

By KangaZu

Silly Saturday ...

... Mourning Dope Dove.

With my Nikon Z63 out for repair I've had to dig out my old Nikon D5600. But thankfully it's still operational ... and I still have all the lenses for it.

In fact, our 600mm is a DX lenses so it works perfectly for this camera.  I had a wonderful time in the greenhouse (absent any sun) afternoon photographing all the wildlife ... including this mourning dove.  We seem to have a lot of them come to our garden but I don't post pictures of them very often.  Situation rectified.

Later on after a quick supper we went up to Jacobsburg State Park for a program on volunteering possibilities.  This was followed by going to one of their open fields to listen and watch for American Woodcocks ... or Timberdoodles.  Spring is the time they are here in our area putting on their mating rituals.  We definitely heard the males calling and some of the group could see the males soaring high in the air and then dropping back down to the ground.  However, I didn't actually see the action ... which takes place at dusk and it was too dark for me to see anything.
