Hanging in the breeze

Apparently it's not know why these birds do this, but it's strongly suggested is allows them to dry their feathers after fishing. Unlike a lot of other birds which fish or dive into water their feathers aren't oily and waterproof in the same way, so they can often be seen standing around like this.

The dog wasn't bothered and he isn't interested by birds on the water as he knows he isn't allowed in the lake so he leaves them alone.

After the walk I played with the little Mac Mini a bit more - now it's running Debian Linux it's actually a nice little machine and I think it will be quite useful. In practical terms Intel Macs were basically PCs, and can run Windows or Linux just as well as macOS. The older PowerPC and 68K systems, and the latest ARM based systems are architecturally quite different from PCs, but again Linux can run on all of them - but not Windows.
