First day of harvest

There was a dew this morning making the grain damp out in the field but after we had had an early lunch T went out to start combining the barley field up behind the house. He has 18 acres to harvest in this field and hopefully he will finish it today. The straw too should be baled up as there are showers forecast for tomorrow.

The house is quiet after we have had M and her two sons staying from Brisbane, Australia. They are living for a year in Helsinki while her husband, a geologist, is working for a company prospecting for gold in Lapland. It was great to see them again and the children have grown considerably during the four years since last we saw them.
