St Patricks Day – Chicago river turns green

Some years ago I was an exchange student at the School of the Art institute in Chicago and I planned to video this tradition where they dye the river   bright green.
 
I came down for breakfast early armed with my cameras.
“Where are you going?” asked my fellow students surprised to see me so early with all my equipment.
“I am off to film the green river.”

“Too late” they chorus. “It was last week.”
“But today is St Patricks Day.”

“We know. They brought it forward because there was a Senator in town who wanted to see it.”
“You can’t go changing saints days!”

“Yes, you can. This is America.”
