columbine

This is the Colorado state flower - except the official version is lavender and white, rather than all yellow.
I think this version looks like a sea creature, maybe a relative of the squid pulsing through the depths of the ocean.
How ironic that a land locked state has a floral symbol that looks like it belongs to the marine world. Or is it just me?
