Life in a Northern Town

The Russian Orthodox Cathedral

This is the Russian Cathedral of Nice, built by Tsar Nicholas II in 1912.

We were woken this morning by an incredible thunder storm right overhead. It was awesome standing on the balcony watching the fork lightning dancing all over the sky. I had the camera on the tripod on constant shoot, I tried every combination of aperture, shutter speed and ISO possible, took 700 odd photos, and not even a tiny spark of lightning was captured. Oh well!

So we wandered into town, walked to the Cathedral, did a bit of shopping, had a delicious lunch and are now back at the apartment contemplating the jet skiing. I'm not bloody well doing it, drove a snow mobile once and absolutely hated it. I will sit and watch.

Oh, and after an hour of rain it's hot again.

Ps There are a couple more Nice photos here if you are interested.
