Diary of an Edinburgher

Result!

About a year ago I had to go on a pre-diabetes course. I was just within the range. Well, I really didn't do much about it, just carried on as usual, eating too many pastries etc. and didn't make any major lifestyle changes... There was a website you could log into for, well, I don't know - chat with other people on the list. It was never mentioned in any of my visits to the doctor, and I completely forgot about it.

Until a week or so ago, when I got a message that I was invited to attend an online refresher course. This morning was the day. There were five of us, and a leader. I'm afraid as he went on and on I took the phone into the kitchen and hung up the washing, and got a coffee. It lasted until 12.45!! I piped up a few times, but the leader chap gave me my 'numbers' for all the health indicators on 'My Health Profile'- blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI etc etc. And all my numbers were GOOD. And I’m not in the pre-diabetes range now, Very good to know.

So now I just need to get the back/knees/legs problem. If it is fixable... I rang the surgery to ask them to find out about what's to happen next, the pills are doing nothing, so I'd like to stop them.

While I was engrossed in my online course JR was washing the bay windows, right in my line of vision,  which kind of distracted me, as she missing a few bits. But then the BRAND NEW window washing pole snapped! We'll have to go back down to Peebles and get a replacement one.

It was such a sunny day - though wooly hats still needed - in the afternoon we all set off for a fast brisk walk round the Meadows, and we called in on Dougal and his mum on the way home. JR then went to Bruntsfield, came back and took Archie out again. She hit 20,000 steps!!
