Fabulous flowers

We had an unexpected visit yesterday afternoon. Our lovely neighbour was given these fabulous flowers at the weekend but, as she was flying out early this morning for a short break, she wanted me to be able to enjoy them while she’s away, instead of letting them die in their vase.

How thoughtful is that? It’s such a gorgeous bouquet, but it was very hard to photograph. I put the vase on the hall windowsill, visible to passers by, but in that position it was too high up to get a decent shot of all the flowers, so I put the vase on the carpet in front of a floor-to-ceiling hall window, which is covered with a net curtain. The resulting shot is rather over-exposed, but I don’t mind because I think it shows the flowers off to their best advantage.
