Life through the lens...

Rob rob robin.

Sit and Be Fit this morning then after lunch, as it was a glorious day, we drove to Cromwell Bottom. A Nature Reserve between Brighouse and Elland, Yorkshire.
Next to the Calder and Hebble Navigation and the River Calder runs through it.
In the past it has been a Quarry, Tip for Ash from the Elland power station, and a landfill site.
Now it is a mix of woodland, wetlands, and grasslands and is rich in plants and wildlife.
A beautiful and peaceful place.
First a walk to the weir. We noticed a lot of clearing up along the river bank being done by many helpers.
Then into the Reserve where we could hear the frogs croaking. Saw a huge cluster of frogspawn in the pond, and then spotted the frog in the reeds. Every time it croaked the vocal sac blew out. Such a funny sight to watch.

This is where the robin came Bob bob bobbing along as I was photographing the frog.
Had to be my main blip as it was the best photo I took today.

There were marsh marigolds flowering by a stream. The first ones I have seen this year.

Further along the river we saw two Goosanders. Obviously just paired up.

Got chatting with someone who told us about some kingfishers which were nesting in the bank opposite.
He spotted one flash past as we were talking, but we missed it.

The sunlight was making the river sparkle. Absolutely beautiful.( collage)

Needed to to wrap up as there was still a sneaky cold wind.
Now back home enjoying a cuppa.
After a very enjoyable afternoon.
Walked 2/3 miles.
