Blue skies and blossom
A beautiful sunny day all day but a frost first thing and a very cool wind out of the sun.
After Pilates and a coffee with my friend back at our house we set off to Ilkley over the moor.
I asked Chris to drop me off by the Kings Hall as I wanted to take a look at the new fountain and see if there was any blossom out on the trees lining The Grove.
At first glance the trees, to the left beyond the fountain, don’t seem to be in blossom so I thought I would leave it with the fountain for my blip. I walked on to the cinema to meet Chris. The walk there on Leeds Road out of the sun was bitter!
We were there to see another Exhibition on Screen booked last November, called ‘The Dawn of Impressionism 1874’
It was very interesting though I already knew a bit about the initial rejection the painters received, it was not as good as the original Vermeer Exhibition on Screen which was brilliant. I’m afraid there was a bit of nodding off and not just us probably most of the audience!
After, Chris wanted to take a closer look at the fountain himself, it is gravity fed from Ilkley moor and is said to represent the moss on the moors. ( Wilsden Walker took a great shot of it lit up at night a few weeks ago)
We then we walked along The Grove in the sun. From close up it was clear that the blossom on the trees was in bud with a few clusters of flowers on them, no doubt it will be over with petals all over the pavement next time we go!
