If I had been able to resist, the title of this picture would have been Vertical Earth or, maybe, Civil Engineer's Delight.

These slabs are the walls of Big Thompson Canyon. Impressive, huh?

What I would give for a geologist to explain the forces behind this spectacle. As it is, the best I can do is mumble something about "plate tectonics" and to keep my incredibly slackened jaw from whacking my knees every time I go through here.
