Packaging Con?

I was very pleased to find this product again, and in our local Lidl. I bought one last year, and we kept it in Ruby (motorhome). It is soft in warm water and hard in cold, and it was really good for cleaning the van.  So good that I wore it out.

My Blip shows a new one in the box, and it is obviously smaller than the box. Or should I say that the box is deliberately bigger than the sponge. It does seem like a con, however good the product is.
