Ice!
I decided to head for Masstown Market this morning. Masstown is a bakery/farm market/deli/garden center/gift shop/restaurant and is a destination for many people. After spending some money there I drove as far as Wentworth. I had hoped to walk into the waterfalls there but there was still quite a bit of ice on the trail and I didn't have crampons with me. Wentworth area is inland and at a much higher elevation than where I am near the coast. In fact there is a ski hill there.
I knew the area had a freezing rain warning last night but I didn't realize they had actually got it. Passing thru Folly Lake, one of the highest points on mainland Nova Scotia, everything was coated in ice. Fortunately there was no ice on the road. This is one of the blueberry fields, and I had to stop to get some photos.
After I got home this afternoon I had a meeting with a client that I worked for last year. I planted some gardens in their back yard. Now they want the front yard done. And there may be regular maintenance too.
A cloudy and cool start to the day, by mid afternoon it had cleared off and the temperature rose as it cleared. The high this afternoon was 12 C. It brought kids and adults out on their bicycles, and the boys with the toys (convertibles and motorcycles) were out late this afternoon too.
