Palm Trees.
Holiday time!! Today the alarm went off at an ungodly 3.45am (after arriving home from the wedding at 12.30am)! M and I got ourselves sorted and were in the car by 4.30am to start the drive to Edinburgh airport. I'm a little scared of flying, so felt full of butterflies the whole way, but I'm always fine once we're checked in (I think it's because by that point it's too late to do anything about it)!
We'd arrived with plenty of time to grab some breakfast and for me to stock up on trashy magazines for the flight, so we were set for the 5-hour journey. As we flew over Germany into Austria, the sky was remarkably clear and we could see all the cities and towns dotting the countryside, then snowcapped mountains reaching up to meet us. At one point we were flying over the area M and I skiied in February!
When we arrived at the apartment it was scorching hot and the pool beneath the window looked so inviting. We briefly unpacked, then headed downstairs to sit on sunloungers and have a dip in the water. As it got late, we wandered along to the beachfront and found a lovely restaurant where M had souvlaki and I had a grilled halloumi salad while we watched the locals swimming in the sea. It was wonderful! We came back to our lovely little apartment (nice and clean, with a huge balcony!) to watch a bit of TV before bed. Let the holiday commence!!
