A surprise building
This black and white tenement building on the corner of Baker St and Friars St in Stirling comes as an architectural surprise for it stands in complete contrast to the surrounding Scottish vernacular.
Built in 1890 by John Allan in the style of Old English Tudor it used to have a pub on the ground floor. Today, as far as I could see, it is now a private dwelling,
It was the first time the architect had used red brick, and this combined with black and white wood makes it a striking feature in the Old Town .
It is is much photographed by tourists.
