Evora

Writing this after a day spent exploring Evora with the help of a walking guide who took us to see some of the main places , explained about the history of the area and it’s impact on the architecture. The original name was Ebora which has a Celtic origin so our guide suggested that the city has Celtic origins. The photo is of the Roman temple through which can be seen two of the towers of the cathedral. The extra is of the bone chapel , the walls are “ decorated” with the skeletal remains of many of the people who had previously been buried round about the area . I thought it would feel uneasy to be in it but instead it had an air of peace about it . The city is full of interest and there is so much more to see . We dodged rain showers, got soaked but it was worth it .
It’s been lovely to have a day to reconnect with our friends .
