Another foggy day

Another foggy, drizzly day. I took a quick drive out to Eastern Passage late this afternoon to get a few photos for today.
It was a busy social day. I dropped some tools off to be sharpened this morning, made a stop at Walmart, then met a few of the Photo Society members for coffee.
After that I met a friend for lunch. I met Maxine when I first started my social group 15 years ago. Then we lost touch as I became more involved in organizing the brunches. I ran into her at Walmart in December, and we have started talking again. Today was the first time we got to talk for more than a few minutes.
Later this afternoon Jean called me to let me know she had been talking to Marilyn. I have only had one message from Marilyn since I sent her the email telling her I would not be her unpaid servant. Jean told me that Marilyn had a doctor's appointment on Wednesday, an in person one, and that she doesn't know how she is going to get there. There is a medical transport van that she could book, and she did look into it one day. But she said she didn't know if the driver would help her get out of the house. I told her she should ask them. Her physiotherapist made her step outside onto her deck one day, no steps, she just had to lift her walker over the lip of the door. She fought against doing it, so she won't do it by herself. It's going to be so different working in her garden this year, she won't be outside on the deck supervising.
Now here is the difference between 2 people. I found out today that Maxine had had a stroke. To see her and talk to her you would never know it. Her speech is clear, she has no problems getting around, she drives herself places, and she is over 80 years old. When it happened, she realized that she needed to get to the hospital right away, so she called an ambulance. Marilyn waited 3 days to go and see her doctor, now she has more problems getting around than what she did before her stroke, she has to use a walker. And her cognitive abilities were affected. So if anyone thinks they may be having a stroke, get yourself to a hospital right away. Most of the effects can be reversed now if you get to the hospital within 4 hours.
