Lesser
Gulls on rooftops are a rarity in my neighbourhood so it was with some surprise that I noticed four Lesser Black-backed gulls had alighted on my neighbour’s, across the road. These definitely were noisy neighbours.
I don’t think the Jackdaws were impressed; they live in the hole being studied so closely. They stayed well out of the way for the 5 minute duration of the visit. I did hear the gulls around and about for the rest of the afternoon. Lesser Black-backed apparently will nest on flat-roofed buildings, so perhaps they are showing an interest in the Co-op.
It stayed overcast for most of the day, bringing to an end this week’s sunny spell. I did find one Comma butterfly, so it’s been good to start the butterfly season with sightings on four consecutive days.
