Today's the day ...................... to work hard

This is the last picture (honestly!) in the Magnolia stellata saga.  The flowers are now fully open and delighting us with their papery beauty.

It's been hard manual labour in the garden today.  We've bitten the bullet to sort out a herbaceous border that had become choked with pernicious weeds like ground elder and couch grass, to mention a few.  We've taken everything out of it - and rescued what we can.  Then today, Will has dug it over and added a bit of home-made compost - and put slabs round it -  to make it easy to look after.

It's the nice bit now - choosing some new plants to go in it ..................!
