Karting
My mum bought us a family go-karting session for Christmas, and today was the day...
We picked her up and went for a lovely lunch at Mannerstons before heading out to Xtreme Karting in Falkirk. They have a branch in Edinburgh too, but that only takes over-12s and CyclopsJnr is still 10, so Falkirk it was.
We had a lovely time with MrsCyclops, CyclopsJnr and I driving and my mum spectating. CyclopsJnr really enjoyed himself and seemed to pick it up very quickly. He was soon managing controlled slides round some of the corners and getting the hang of finding the racing line. He was not the slowest in our session by a few seconds. He had a few spins or crashes while he was getting used to things, but he did very well for a first timer! We had two 10 minute sessions with a break in between to recover. Thanks Mum!
I was pleased to be second in the session, and indeed when we left my fastest lap was the second fastest of the day albeit about 4 seconds slower than the fastest of the month (22 to my 26 seconds)... I like to think it is a result of my outstanding racing driving skills but I think it's more that my size/weight gives me a grip advantage in the corners.
By the time we got home CyclopsJnr was exhausted, and happy to flop for a bit before we all watched Gladiators with dinner. It was an epic battle and we all really enjoyed watching.
A lovely family day!
