Treasure..

Times 6
I was given six of these bricks today with the promise of quite a few more in a few weeks!
Can you feel my delight??!!!
Maybe not!
The school I taught in for over 28 years was built on the site of Hamstead Brick Works , along side Hamstead Colliery. The history of both has always been of great interest to me.
In fact I did quite a bit of research many years ago, and a display in a local library, which is now in the archives of the Museum belonging to the history of the mine.
These were advertised on social media as needing a new home.. and they now have one.
Quite a few people turned up for bricks. Families whose relatives worked in the brickworks. One lady wanted one to put in a grave of her great grandfather who had worked at the works. So many interesting stories .
These will go with my collection of named bricks.. yes, you read right, I collect bricks with the makers names in.
There are a few of us around !
