Despite the lack of sun it was a good day to spend gardening removing some overgrown herbaceous plants while trying to improve the awful thick damp clay which seems to be a never ending job. There were several ladybirds which is a good sign and so far there are no aphids but ants are becoming a problem. A few bees were buzzing around on the last of the crocuses and in the hedge opposite.
