La'al Ratty

The Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway is known locally as La'al Ratty.

It's a 7 mile long 15inch heritage railway running from Ravenglass on the coast, up to Dalegarth high up in Eskdale.

It was opened in 1875 to transport hematite iron ore down to the main line railway at Ravenglass.

The weather was perfect, and we had a great day out on the railway. Plenty of refreshments and an hour and a half walk too!
