Jazz
A sociable day for a change! In the morning I had an appointment at the Royal. It was supposed to be at 9:00 but I ended being seen at 11:30! I was due to meet ex-colleagues (for a previous job over 15years ago) for lunch and had already texted to tell them not to wait for me, but miraculously, I made it only a few minutes late. It was really lovely and I am very glad I made the effort to get there.
I had a good rest in the afternoon and went back into town in the evening to listen to Phil Bancroft (sax) with Gyan Singh (tabla) and Graeme Stephen (guitar) with friends from RowPorty. I really enjoyed the performance, particularly in the way it weaved traditional Jazz with Indian classical tabla music and some Celtic influence too . It was preceded by a totally improvised performance by Chris Lyons on the piano, which was in part slightly hypnotic and mesmerising.
