Rainy Walk to the BSO Concert

Another great concert. And a big announcement from the conductor and executive director. Next year is the 50th anniversary of the Bellingham Symphony Orchestra. It will also be the 10th anniversary of a series of concerts, one each season, called “Harmony from Discord,” featuring music created in terrible times. We’ve heard works by composers who did not survive the holocaust. And works by others who were facing hardships. Tonight we learned that a very special musician will be playing in next year’s Harmony from Discord concert. YoYo Ma will come to our small city and join our mostly volunteer orchestra in a cello concerto.! YoYo Ma! I am so excited. I should mention that our orchestra is really really good and so he will enjoy playing with them. We were so lucky that he chose to come. When our young executive director sent a letter explaining the series and the deep meaning it has for us YoYo Ma agreed to come. How cool is that!
