Reflections

We sat by the river reflecting on the world of work.
We recollected how many there were in our team at one time.
Currently our small team of nine is now four. Two just retired, three off sick.
I thought about how we have worked together longer than I was married.
My prevailing and most persistent thoughts/memories all this last week have been reliving the time after the funeral. The funeral was a long way from the arranged venue for the funeral tea. Once the funeral was over I couldn’t give a shit about anything else. Everyone made their own ways to the tea, including the kids and other family. C had offered to drive me down and home again afterwards. It’s all a blur to be honest other than the sense of safety, and that has prevailed throughout our working years.
Rogers would recognise it as a way of being.  A well lived example of a way of being that creates a safe environment for the other to be more fully themselves.
In an imperfect working world that quality has been invaluable and immeasurable.
