Conversation Piece

I grew up in Italy and in 1974 Luchino Visconti was one of Italy's most famous  directors. He had had a stroke by then and it was only possible to get the insurance for the making of the movie when Burt Lancaster (playing one of the main characters of the movie)  promised to take over the direction if necessary. "Gruppo di famiglia in un interno' (translation: Family portrait) or Conversation Piece as it was called in English was a disturbing movie about an American academic who had inherited a Roman townhouse from his Italian mother and who was quietly living in the apartment surrounded by art and books, when a Roman aristocratic family tricked him into letting the upper floors of his townhouse to them and he somehow got involved in all their chaotic lives. I had met people like this family when we were on holiday near Rome, this movie really made an impression on me and I have never forgotten it. For today's MonoMonday theme of 'a book or film title' with thanks to the two hosts of MonoMonday this month.

Thanks very much for the kind comments and stars for yesterday's Blip :-)
