Marsh Harrier #39
We had a great time at Lunt Meadows this morning in the sunshine, somewhere we've not been for nearly 9 months.
It started with a flyby from one of the resident barn owls as we were getting out of the car. I hadn't even got my camera out! Unfortunately we didn't see it again.
With a distant Kestrel, a Sparrowhawk, Multiple Buzzards and this female Marsh Harrier, we had seen 5 raptors in a few hours.
We stood and talked to one of the rangers at a screen for a while which was quite interesting. He showed us where to look for the bittern, but it didn't show itself whilst we were there, not that we were expecting it to.
Lots of chiffchaffs and Cetti's warblers made up the soundtrack of the morning and with 48 different species spotted, it was a very good visit.
