Diary of an Edinburgher

Out round the circuit this morning. We came across these discarded ears, and of course Archie was mad keen to try them on, though I wouldn't allow him to wear them round the Links, we left them on the pavement for another doggie to try on.

The first cut of the grass has been looming for a while and today was the day. Didn't take me long. In fact it was warm and sunny in the back garden (out of the wind).

I then decided to set to on the unsightly bit of bamboo fencing in our front garden, hiding us from the neighbour. It's always falling down, and I've tied it up various ways, all of them complete eyesores, though only the neighbour sees, really. I've tied them with string, which is the worst, but also latterly tied them with a cable from the roof, probably an old tv cable. So today the offending section was ripped down and broken up. Well, not all of it broken up. I've left a pile to do in the sunshine tomorrow morning.

The neighbour came to fix the gate yesterday, and would you believe it - we could NOT find the hanger thing that holds up the gate. It was nowhere to be found. And I KNOW it was left right beside the gate, by the hedge. Very annoying. Because now we have to buy two bright shiny new ones. We found them and they're being delivered (the weren't available in store) which saves a trip to B&Q.

JR and Archie went for a big walk down town, with a bit of browsing in a famous vintage clothes shop, JR met a gym pal, who happens to own the shop. Archie enjoyed being admired for his good manners while he waited. And waited...
