The accidental finding

Last days of the dough mixer

Walkers’ bakery, an institution of Stroud for sixty years, with a cafe above and a cake decorating supplies on the top floor, closed in January, amid great sadness. Now the windows are sheeted over, and outside the shop stands a gigantic dough mixer that has seen better days.

After a night of broken sleep, which is my new normal. I got up a went to work. Kept myself closeted away in different rooms in different surgeries, only emerging for a lunchtime meeting. Took a couple of my mother’s things to a charity shop: a cuddly soft toy dog that I bought for her birthday last year, and her perfectly ordinary washbag. I hope they don’t sell to someone I know.

Now I’m rather headachey at home.
