Nightburb Crossroads

I've been working on a series of night-shots over the past year or so, mainly of the South Dublin suburbs (Blackrock, Stillorgan, Dún Laoghaire) where I have lived for most of my life.

I've often noticed the old pines at this crossroads near Stillorgan Grove, the road we used to live on. Though it's still quite busy (no quiet corners anymore in this neck of the copse), it is in fact bypassed by an even busier road that has sliced off the tail of the old one. I like the way this image illustrates the crossroads of the older and newer world, the geriatric trees almost all that remains of what was once very much part of the countryside.
