On a wire
After a full day it was good to head home initially by train from Grafton. I had done a couple of things which delayed my departure by a minute or two. I got to the station and a train was there. I had three flights of stairs to go down, and am these days not in the mood for rushing down even a third the number of stairs. End result was that I waited 10 minutes for the next train.
Half an hour after getting home I decided to have a walk with my camera. One of the first birds I saw was a spotted dove in Hollywood Avenue. The light was good, and the bird was settled.
Many were the Tui calling out from within the protection of branches and leaves. I saw not a single one. I saw a drake and four ducks. Seemingly these are hybrid birds. The native grey ducks mate with the introduced mallards, to a degree that it becomes a surprise to see either pure mallard or pure Parera.
